hehehe......Yeah.....naturally I'm biased since I make my living around 3D. I know you guys have the whole world putting pressure on you guys to add features to the Products and you guys dealing with a multitude of other issues.....but I can hope right?

Actually, it was someone at RED that told me that they had plans for a "GIG-E 3D cable". Since I haven't heard anything about for awhile I wanted to bring it up and see what the official answer was.

If the answer is "maybe last quarter of 2011, not really a priority right now" that's cool.....was just more curious if there was any plans for it or if we are indeed stuck with our good friend the gen10 forever....

GigE wouldn't be accurate enough for syncing shutter for the level of accuracy we were aiming for on Epic.
The latency on GigE is many orders of magnitude too inaccurate (ie. lots of zeros difference).
However what gig is great for is controlling cameras in many different ways such
as master/slave, master/master, one to many, master to group, laptop, ipad, etc.

On the sync side we can also control shutter timing in a couple different ways.
This is because we've had strong requests to support not just simple 2 camera
setups but multi-rig, multi-camera rigs, synced moco, synced stereo moco,
synced stereo multi rig moco. Then add off speed and high framerates to the
mix... There's alot of flexibility in Epic to do alot more than just eliminate a cable.
