Dealing with Corrupted Frames

Hi there,

I have a large amount of footage affected by corruptions. The corruptions are either present visually (purple flashes for usually one frame at a time) or unseen variations which prevent exports (which I have solved by locating the latter by loading clips in REDCINE-X, which lists the problematic frame numbers).

I now need to work with and use the footage, as re-shooting is not at all possible.

The method I have attempted is to remove the corrupted frames in Premiere one by one, then changing the speed of the previous frame to 50% to fill the gap. However, this is in some cases not producing results that are as seamless as I hoped (perhaps someone who is not looking for it may not notice but I am not so sure). In particular in instances of two tandem corrupted frames the footage is I think very noticeably jerky.

I am wondering if there is any software or techniques I can use to make footage with frames that need to be removed appear more seamless?

Any thoughts are hugely appreciated...

The jerk is due to the replaced frame's motion not flowing smoothly from the preceding to the succeeding frame. You need to use some sort of morphing software, or a motion vector aware interpolation technique to create a replacement frame which is in-between your good frames.

You might be able to use After Effects for this, but people more expert than I will have to chime in.
