5600 cooler look 3200 warmer look this is what I am going off when I am filming with the RED.

I have been dialing in the manual WB to the Color temp reading I get on my sekonic color temp meter.

When I take the footage into FCP and then Color, if I want a warmer look I am dialing up in numbers, which is kind of opposite with the number scheme that I am shooting with. so even though I am prefectly white balanced with the shot and I wanted to warm it up a little I went up in nunmbers where I thought I would have dialed down in numbers.

Can someone please explain this to me.

Thanks

For accurate WB point the RED at a grey card and take an auto WB reading.

3200 is certainly a "warm looking" light, and hence to balance that we need to add a lot of cooling blue. So if you shoot with a 5600 light source, then balance to 3200 in sw, it will come out cooler looking. Similarly, if you shoot 2800 or 3200 light, and balance in sw with 5600, it will look warm.

OK, thanks! think I go it!!!

I think I might have been mixing what happens in camera with what hapens in post.

So if I shoot dailed in at 3200 with a 5600 light source I will get a cool look...

...but in post if I shot at 3200 with a 3200 light source and then dialed up to 5600 it will go warmer because I am basically doing a shift in the kelvin scale.

Thanks
