Hi Guys,

Anyone ever tried to open up a Lemo Cable? Not getting any power from my Switronix V Mount battery plate and cant find any info online whether its possible to actually open up the connection.
I opened up the plate itself and all the internal wires seem to be fine.
Also did a continuity test with a digital multimeter against the battery pins that spring up from the bottom of the plate and I get a reading from all 5 so havn't a clue where the problem lies.
Any help greatly appreciated...

Cheers,

John.

i broke lemo head last week snapped between pelican case then i used AC Adapter lemo head and it work fine now..Bad thing is i need lemo head for AC adapter and its 100$ (only lemo head)

Yes, Lemo parts can be opened. It might be difficult without the right tools, but it can be done. I would test other things before I opened up the lemo. What are the condition of the pins? How long has the plate been in use?

Thanks for the reply guys.
The pins seem to be fine Jason, gave them a clean also.
I've had the plate for about a year now.
I was on set last week when the camera kept shutting down, then realized the problem was the battery plate as when I powered back up,a nudge of the cable up or down would power up the camera into standby.
After approx 5 times of this happening the camera shut down again and would not power up at all unless I plugged in the power supply which ruled out the DC In on the camera.
Also checked the fuse inside the plate and its fine.
Not sure where to go from here, might have to invest in a new one,

I have opened and repaired Red cables before - the LCD cable. It's fairly frustrating and you need a decent soldering iron with a fine tip to do the repair (a steady hand also helps). When I finished the repair I hot glued around all the cables to strengthen them and hopefully keep them from breaking again. The whole assembly comes apart fairly easily, you just need some micro screwdrivers to pop it apart. Careful not to lose the sleeve/guide that is inside when you pop it open - it keeps the pins oriented in the right direction. If you have the budget just buy two new cables - one replacement, and one for backup for the next time the cable breaks.
