Dead button on DSMC2 Side Handle?

Side handle seems to have arrived with the "A" button non-functioning. Any tips to get it working or is this an RMA? Ugg.

Can you hot key it in menu? I am having issue with my side wheel under C & D for aperture - won't work

In the key select menu, all the buttons show up for assignment when pressed except "A". I tried re-discover, no luck. The clicky wheel under C&D is working great for aperture, as are all the other functions.

I'm running it on a Scarlet-W that initially shipped with a buggy wifi radio. Red replaced a board of some sort to address that issue – not sure if this might be related.
