Hello,
I must make a KDM for a DCP distribution. Someone have experience with it ? Do you know a application for do it ?

Thanks

Try http://lmgtfy.com/?q=kdm+dcp

To load and play the encrypted content on a particular screen server, a KDM must be created for that server. To create this KDM, obtain the SMPTE 430-2 certificate file corresponding to the server and paste it into the web form at http://www.cinecert.com/dci_ref_01. After you click "Submit", a KDM will be returned that will unlock the content for your screen server.

Also, this has become a real name forum. See my sig for instructions on how to change your username.

That is to produce a KDM for a test DCP that is distributed on a DVD in order to test a server. A key must match both the particular encryption key, and the server ID that is being used to play it. KDM generation is almost always done by the same people that make the encrypted DCP. In fact, it pretty much has to be done that way. At the studio level, there are only a very few trusted companies that handle all key delivery messages, because it ultimately requires a very large, constantly updated database since the keys not only unlock a specific DCP on a specific server, the also specify a time period during which that material can be used. When the run is extended, a new key is required. This gets rather complex and must be constantly monitored.

Unless you're really concerned about piracy - not usually the case for a one-off DCP to be used for individual screenings - there is no need for encryption in the first place.

I have found some informations on google but Yes http://lmgtfy.com/?q=kdm+dcp is produce a KDM for their test DCP.
We need to create our KDM for little distribution for 20 or 40 copies. And I would to know if it's possible to make our KDM with the server ID and our DCP ID. There are a lot of things like a x509 certificate (SMPTE 430-1-2006)... Perhaps we can do it with openssl, but the procedure is not very simple. And the configuration of XML file either !

You only need a key delivery message if the DCP is encrypted. Is it? And, if so, what was used to make the DCP in the first place?

How is the access to server certificates organized? Do you have to register with someone?

I work at a film archive/cinematheque and a significant part of our work deals with the restoration and edition of mutilated, forgotten and "lost" films (see the "edition filmmuseum" DVD series for examples). While probably the major part of our loans (via DCPs) will work out just fine unencrypted/unprotected there will definitely be screening contexts where encryption will be mandatory -- for a number of reasons, "piracy" being the least important among those.

So, we will have to find out how it works. And, I reckon, we will, too. Any help, hints, pointers much appreciated.

Nicolas, I just came across this old thread which I had completely forgotten about. I guess in the meantime you will have found a (commercial) solution to do what you wanted to. But for the sake of completeness let me just update this with some open-source-related info:

Since 12/2010 Cinemaslides can build encrypted packages and generate KDMs. Look at it as a sort of Proof-of-concept app which allows you -- due to its open nature -- to explore all related aspects. Let me know if you need more details.
