Hey guys,

Ayz here -- I recently co-produced a pitch trailer with Judd Tilyard, for DIMEWORTH FILMS, for a feature film called DAYLIGHT which we're planning to shoot in Detroit in 2011.

The screenplay was written by me, and will be DIRECTED BY DAN GAUD (so there's no confusion here lol), to be produced by Judd and myself. We shot for about 3 days in Dan's hometown of Magog in Quebec, on a RED MX with Lomo Anamorphic lenses. Dan directed and DP'd the short himself, and Stephen Sullivan was flown out from LA to star in our trailer. We shot with a small skeleton crew, moving quickly to get what we needed, rockin' and rollin' for about a weekend and some change. Dan handled all the post vfx work himself, and Verity Fiction worked on all the make up in the film.

Below you'll find a link to the trailer, as well as some behind the scenes stills. Hope you guys enjoy it. :)

Okay, I like what you're doing here enough to say:

1. You don't have permission to use that song, do you?

2. The shot by candlelight is noise central. Try noise reduction, or rotoscope / key out the background and just replace it entirely.

3. The audio peaks and clicks at the end, too loud.

4. The 3d text "Fight for Survival" doesn't work for me. Not the phrase, nor the concept there.

The music issue alone could be a problem (legally and with people in the industry).

Best visuals I've ever seen in this forum.

I'd see your motion picture.

Excellent, Ayz! :-) Let me know if it needs score. ;-)

art. it has no "Right" or "wrong"...I'm pretty sure this is EXACTLY how the creators want it to be, down to every tiny detail.

I really Love obscure image with great CGI and compelling music.
It'll be one movie for me to see unconditionally.
Wish all the best.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Very appreciated.

We're going out to try and attach some cast soon, and then raise finance. I'll update if there's any news worth sharing.

Keep the comments coming. :)

i love the look of those lomo anamorphics. they give such a griddy feel, but still sharp! did the DP decide to push the ISO on some of the noiser shots for artistic choice, or was it purely the fact that you were so run and gun you couldn't light certain scenes and had to work off available ?

it's got the "Walking Dead" feel to it, looks great.

But being a precious artist closed to constructive feedback is a great way to be broke your whole life and never have your work seen by a wide audience.

It's a mix of both. We were running and gunning, but Dan conceptualized the shots and cinematography in a way that the noise would be part of the style, and was an artistic/practical choice. It wasn't like "oh we're stuck with noise now" but very much something we dug as a side-effect.

Thanks a lot Tom.

I have to second Joe's comments above, especially in regards to the music rights. Seriously, that can come back to haunt you.

It's a concept trailer, and I think you're demonstrating your concept, or at least the style, rather effectively. The trailer itself feels somewhat disjointed and doesn't match up with your plot synopsis very well -- mostly regarding the "dying world" and "dangerous creatures", the trailer just does not convey a dying world. In fact, in all your shots, the world looks just fine... I see a bunch of people with problems that perhaps they need a bigger gun to solve. If I were a potential investor or producer and I watched this trailer as a pitch film, then read the plot synopsis, my initial response would be "huh?"

I love the style and texture you're aiming for here. If you can carry that through to the feature, then you'll have one of the nicest looking apocalypse / zombie / undead movies ever. The look / style here make me want to see the final. So a big thumbs-up for that.
