Blackmagic Design is pleased to announce our support for RED Rocket in both our Mac and Linux systems. Stereo r3d playback with dual Rockets is also supported on the Linux system. In each case installation is plug and play.

If you do not have Rockets installed, r3d clips are decoded and debayered as per user configurable settings on a project or clip basis.

These new features and more including stereoscopic grading and monitoring in the V7.0 release which is now in beta.

Congratulations :)

Quick question - is this the NEW Resolve that you can have on a Mac for $1000 and how does the Rocket help on the Mac version - Rendering or Playback or Both??

All the best,

Tom

Hi, great, would like beta testing the SW. Possible?

Thanks for the update Peter.
Any news about 3D Stereo for mac?

Saludos,

Jose.

What are the Slot configurations with the NVIDIA, blackmagic Card, raid Controller and the rocket you are using. Thanks

Very interested to know this Mac Pro configuration as well. Maybe they skip the RAID card and go with 4 internal drives in SW RAID 0?

EDIT: But I'm hoping we can do with only 1 nVidia GPU, especially if it is the Quadro 4000.

Peter, any plans for PC/Windows support? Would be the ultimate partner to Adobe CS5 for finishing....

Cheers,

Paul

that just put a big old nail in Colors coffin. At least for now.

By the way will Davinci Resolve work with a Kona 3 card? (HD-SDI out for ProRes)

Michael,

I spoke to the product manager at NAB and at that time his answer was first on black magic cards, AJA the Kona 3 to follow.

I haven't heard anything since.

The plot thickens as AJA is rumored to be announcing an updated Kona product at IBC as well.

Exciting times,

Steve

I don't think so. Not when a DaVinci/Mac setup like you're hinting at will cost at least $9000 (Software $1000, Red Rocket $5000, NVidia card $700, not to mention faster storage, control panel, and an acceptable monitoring setup) and Color is, well, free.

Not quite free, you still must pay the $995 FCS price tag, plus MacPro, plus RAID plus a control surface as well. Oh, and Kona 3 to monitor out to your SDI display.
Okay, maybe you don't NEED the control surface but if we are talking apples to apples here than the only thing really missing is the REDROCKET support from COLOR and of course the power of DaVinci. Oh, yeah, and with all that COLOR still won't be realtime.

I'd really like to use it with Avid Media Composer 5 on a PC. The GPU options are so much nicer on the PC side.

Mike, it's not like you can purchase Color separately and you still need to buy hardware to run color for grading setup, should be put us in more or less same thing except Color cant use RR.
