Hi guys, i'm pleased to report that Resolve users can now download the 7.0.2 update at http://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/software/ and it includes support for 8-bit monitoring to provide real-time HD playback on 2008 Mac Pros, additional remote grading features including grab/select/delete stills and hide/show window cursors and full support for REDlog Film gamma.

Further information about the latest software is available in the individual Readme files for Mac OS X and Linux.
Cheers
Peter

Is there such a thing an evaluation version of Resolve? And please don't say 'yes, it costs $995!' :)

Some local reseller must have a demo! Seriously it takes about 10 minutes to be convinced.

But yeah - of you have the hardware to support it, just get it :) There is NOTHING within 10x of its cost that comes close. It comprehensively beats Color in performance, workflow and features... and makes color-correction inside the NLE just look silly inefficient for longer projects.

The only thing on the horizon is Storm - but that is I think actually designed to work in concert with Resolve as part of an awesome next-generation RED pipeline from shoot to finish.

Could you update the link in DaVinci/Resolve section of your website?
It's still pointing to the old 7.0.1

Also, we're trying to buy the Avid AMT license for handling DNxHD files.
The answers we've got so far are ambiguous and no one really seems to know how this works.

Care to clarify?

The DNxHD update provides the libraries Resolve uses to encode and decode the MXF DNxHD files for Avid. You can purchase the dvd from your BMD reseller. To install, load the disk and follow the normal install process. Your Resolve app will then see the library in the correct location and will then display DNxHD files in the Media Pool and render as you need.
Re Source Clip name... its a feature request on our list.

WANT TO BUY:
so can anyone refer me to a reseller of resolve. I'm actually located in Mexico, but it's far easier for me to buy from someone in the USA, Canada or even Europe.

I'd like to find a reseller that will not mind my myriad of questions and assist me in building my setup from my current 2009 Mac.

Thanks.....

Reseller says the CD/DVD is not available yet. Should I insist?

I saw that Silverado is selling this -- Google them or send Torrey Loomis a pm: he's on the forum a fair bit.
