Hi, community

Every time I restart the camera, DATE/TIME go back to 1st january 2010 0:00
I sent my Epic-M to Red UK.
They changed the lower IO board, sent me back the camera
And I still have the same problem

Somebody already had this problem ?

I had the problem twice not long after I bought my Scarlet, nearly three years ago. It took two trips back to RED (SoCal) to get it fixed. Not exactly sure why they didn't get it right the first time. Then, the same problem cropped up again recently (after 2 1/2 years) and another trip back got it handled. Annoying but it was handled well.

Hi Terry

I can't believe, they sent it me back with the problem...

I know... kind of like "Hello?".

I think it has to do with man internal battery but it also seems like it might be more complicated since they haven't nailed it.

I've run into the same problem several times in the past week.

Extremely frustrating as that is how I log my footage.

Do you guys normally leave a v-mount/AB/Volt/XL battery attached to your cameras? I've been leaving the camera connected to a power source thinking it my keep the internal battery recharged. Not sure if that helps it or if the internal battery doesn't get any power from that source.

Always been curious if it helps or not. The camera does drain the regular batteries over time (in off state).

Will - I don't usually leave my Scarlet powered at all; battery is completely off in the case. But, I don't think it matters. I think the internal battery is designed to last quite awhile and, I don't believe it takes power from the external ones. But, I could be wrong. It would be nice if RED gave us an idea. When I got mine fixed - all three attempts - they weren't terribly specific about everything they did and I didn't pursue it.

"I’ve taken a look at the log and your new RTC battery that was replaced is reading as low voltage, It’s possible that the connection has been lost during transit"[/FONT]

Or they replaced the dead battery with one that had been sitting on the shelf for a few years and which also died immediately (I'm kidding.)

I have the same problem with my Scarlet currently, but have an aversion to spending the $300 shipping + $100 labour for a $1 battery that shouldn't have died so quickly (plus the downtime, plus the conversion rate being so high)... I've got 20year old computers that still keep their time (and they've been unplugged for years on end)... Hopefully the RTC battery is user replaceable in Weapon.

Honestly, for those living out of the US, it'd be more cost effective to buy a lockit box to hold TC... You can get them used for $400 and then you always have one on set.

Same problem here. Seems like a software bug, as it started happening after our last firmware upgrade (Epic-M running on 5.3.33)

Strange. After upgrading to firmware 6.0 my Epic now also developed these symptoms. Unfortunately downgrading back to FW 5.3 did not cure Alzheimer's desease. Time and date are reset to January 2010 00:00:00 whenever the camera is restarted.
I guess the RTC battery has to be replaced.

Does anyone know if the DSMC2 form factor handles this issue any better? It's crazy to have to return the product to replace a coin cell.

I am not at all sure it is a "coin cell." For better or worse, I imagine it is on a board somewhere.

And, no, I have no idea how it is handled in DSMC2. I actually don't think it was a terribly wide spread problem in DSMC1.

I have seen it on 2 separate MX cameras this year, out of 2 MX cameras, not seen it on a Dragon yet.

Coin cell is pretty standard for maintaining clocks in gear like this. Generally though it can be replaced by the user or at least locally. Sometimes they are soldered into place, other times they have a clip.

Recently upgraded a Red Epic Dragon to 6.3.102 and now experience this issue: Upon startup, Date/Time reverts back to 2010. Has anyone found a fix?

We had the same issue on a Red Dragon. We were in the midle of atlantic océan and it was a no way to send the camera for a new battery. So we use to redo the right time each time we turned on the camera. One day we had an improper shut down and then it was impossible to turn on the camera. The culprit of our trouble was the internal battery Who was dead and Just kept in memory the last event (not enough juice)
What ever the power source the camera was pluged in the dead battery was giving the last information it got before dying. One advise change your internal battery asap !
