I record for about 10 seconds then the LCD screen goes dim and i get Sata_trans_fault? this happens most times i hit record.

I thought it might be the position of the drive but now i don't think so. Could it be the battery power. I'm using a older digibeta battery which lasts about 20mins fully charger on red. Could it be a simple case of not drawing enough power to record?

thanks for the help.

Make sure your drive cable is pushed all the way into your camera and drive. Reformat the drive. If the problem remains contact Red. There are known problems with some drives and cables and you will most likely need to send them to Red for repair.

thanks Mark. i'm trying to avoid that if possible. could it be a battery issue? i'm using a older digibeta battery which lasts about 20mins fully charged, i wonder if the camera isn't getting enough power to record?
