Hey Guys,

I just shot some footage in a subway car in Seoul on the Red with these dark bands rolling up from the bottom of the screen. I'm assuming its some type of electrical phase flicker problem. It would be a pain to reshoot this, but my DI house says they can't fix it. Is this fixable in CG?

Sorry if I'm in the wrong section. Any advice is appreciated.

Can you post a sample? Sounds like phase. Did you see it on the LCD/EVF while shooting?

Youve shot the wrong Shutter Speed under a particular Lighting Frequency, Is your Electricity 50hz or 60hz? Or what was it on the Subway?

50 hz = 1/25 or 1/50 shutter speed 180º 90º 45º - etc...
60 hz = 1/40 or 1/60 shutter speed 144º or 216º - etc...

It was on the monitor but the DP missed it shooting on a moving subway car. It was pretty hectic. It looks like an electrical phase, not really a flicker. I think you guys have it right.

Is this correctable in post/CG? It'd be a pain to reshoot...

yep, it's definitely not a flicker, it's an unfortunate trait to CMOS sensors... So its not specific to only Red One. I saw it for the first time while using Magnetic ballast HMIs, Actor on a white / yellow wall in an office.

You could try Tracking it with multiple power windows, but that probably won't work either.
