  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Damien Jurado "Caskets"

cool. like the surrealistic style and compositing of the images.

nice guitar work on the song, raw like neil young at Dead man.

thanks for posting.

DUDE, I absolutely love it! My current favorite video on here!

I for one think the video out does the song. I I want to see this movie! :) Looks like you took a page out of Robert Elswit's book.

Congrats!

Really nice work.

Nice work, reminds me of the recent Jesse James film with Pitt.

Yep. My thoughts too. Which is a great compliment because I thought "Jessie James" should have won the Oscar for cinematography.

See, and I thought it looked like There Will Be Blood, which I believe DID win cinematography. Either way, you're obviously being compared with royalty. Excellent video my friend :)

Where can I get a Red One?

That was cool. Nice shooting, interesting concept, good music track. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Was that a Lens Baby used in some of the shots?

Very nice. Kind of a Terrance Malick/Néstor Almendros thing going on there.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Jesse James was my favorite movie from last year. We also looked to "Days of Heaven" for inspiration during pre-production.

This music video was really fun for me because I was able to very involved in the story development as well as shooting. Damien wrote the original concept and then Matt Daniels and I took it from there and decided to do a period piece.

Phil Anderson, our AC did great work finding all of these awesome locations (He was also a killer AC). The house we shot in hadn't been inhabited in a few decades. There were old medium format negatives scattered around the house among the trash.

Also we decided to go 100% natural light (except the caskets shots, so 99%). No bounce cards, no nothing. We had Kinos on standby but they stayed in there cases. Just painted the room to bounce the light around and found some awesome curtains. Having Super Speeds helped a lot, when we had to move quick outside we used the Red 18-50 as well. And yes, that would be a Lensbaby in there as well, which Mike Prevette kindly loaned us.

I really hope to get the chance to work on some more period stuff in the future, maybe with the EPIC 645...

Beautiful work and that's awesome that you went with natural light. It created a nice tone for the interior shots. Great production design as well, you and your team really came through with a solid piece of work here. Congrats.
