Howdy,
As i push harder to shoot commercials on red often i run into the usual "we dont have time in post for transcodes, but we have to edit on fc7" etc. or the "we cant bring you in for the final grade" conversations. I have been considering picking up the odyssey for these shoots so I can still shoot red while having a workflow thats a bit more friendly to some post house's needs.
Im hoping to have a system thats incredibly easy to use, gives me a variety of option for dailies/transcodes (pro res 1080, 2k, 4k in raw and 709 and lut). ideally it would also funciton as a lut box to either bake into the files or display on the other monitors around set.
From what i can tell the odyssey does that but im not super tech saavy with these sorts of things so I feel like maybe im misreading or overlooking. Anyone have any experience with it on set? is there potentially another better or cheaper or simpler option?
thanks!
