  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

D.I.T Vehicle

Oh yes - would love to get one of those trailers myself too, but unfortulately size does matter - and the roads (and sets) aren't as big here as they are in the states :-)

At some point (if I get the right job for it) I might get one of those really small trailers and convert it into a small video-village van with a 50" plasma. But - that's dreaming a little because I don't have anywhere to park it ;-)

While mine is not strictly a D.I.T. vehicle, let me say I love my Sprinter van. It has plenty of headroom, is fuel efficient, and can be configured in a number of ways.
I did a build-up post thread some time ago, but I see that it is no longer available.

Good Luck with your project!

Dave

Is that the short wheel base wrangler or the long?

It starts off as a regular short wheel wrangler and then American Expedition Vehicles converts it into a truck. I think it can be done from a long wheel base but requires a little more work. Its small inside but I can get to any location. The camper was done by Four Wheel Campers. It does have a stove, sink, fridge, heater, water, fan, solar panel, & dual battery supply. With all that I still manage to pack my 4x10 camera and equipment in there. We will have to see how good the batteries & solar panel work once we get an Epic.

Make him an offer he'll probably offload it to yo for a decent deal. when we were building one if emailed him and he said was looking to get out.

I think it would be more cost-effective to build my own - as I'm located in Denmark ;-)

Ok, so bare with me here, Ive done a pretty thorough search but couldnt come up with any answers.

I do seem to remember a thread a while back but couldnt find it.

I'm Looking to put together a proper D.I.T Vehicle from scratch to replace what im currently working with which is just a standard 4X4 .

Any tips on how you have gone about it with your own would be much appreciated. Particularly in terms of power supplies.

thanks in advance ;)

I currently making one, it's a Mercedes Sprinter 308 (the ones FEDEX uses).

What do you mean by power supplies. Do you want it from the vehicle when the engines running???
