I'm member of a filmclub which is run by students and former students of the University of Freiburg, Germany.
We're looking for the best projector suiting our needs:
DCI conform
10m / 33ft * 2.4m / 8ft screen (wall painted with special cinema white color -> low gain). We might buy a sliver screen.
14m / 46ft projection distance
Budget <80.000USD
Including in the budget are all necessary parts to get going (media integrated block and so on).
Excluded are the costs of adapting the projection room to the needs of the new system (we have roughly an other 15kUSD for that).
After spending a day on the phone with reps of all dcinema projection companies and a lot of technicians from other companies, I think that our best bet would be a Christie 2220.
What do you all think? Which projector should we choose? Of course it would be awesome to get a RED laser projector, but there aren't any information out if it's DCI conform, or are there?
