Went through a Cat 3 (Luis) followed by a Cat 5 (Marilyn) in 2 weeks in St. Thomas in 1995 September. Never forget it. The wind speed indicator at the airport broke at 260 mph! (local cyclonic gusts) Half the houses were destroyed. I could definitely tell you stories.

Without Electricity for 2 1/2 months. Someone made a T-shirt that said Luis was just a blowjob, but Marilyn was a real good f*ck.

I had the opportunity to go down to Cardwell on the weekend to help out a friends family - I was not down there to sightsee.

I did manage to get a few photos and I will share them here to give you an idea of what a Cat5 does to a town and it's landscape. It was humbling to see this and I am so thankful that my home town did not get hit with anything like the destruction that happened further south.

The recovery from this will take a very long time I fear.
