I don't have much material, but I'm cutting my first new reels in a while. Trying to do short (one-minute) reels focused on each type of content: narrative, music video, commercial, corporate, etc. I don't have enough content, though, for four minutes.
How would you combine these categories? Corporate and commercial should go together because on both you can show the brands for which you've shot content. But then commercial and music video should go together because you have a similar style. But then commercial and music videos should also go with narrative because it's all about achieving a variety of looks.
Any guidance? I'm just starting back up at this -- I have very little content, so just enough for two minutes. Any musical recommendations in terms of style (copyrighted music is ok as it will be behind a password and so no one will notice)? What sample reels do people like? What kind of content do clients want... I don't have any time lapse so I might go shoot some, for instance.
Also, how do people light most real estate listing videos? HMIs through the window (through half diff and quarter CTO) then daylight matched bulbs dimmed down so they don't blow out their lampshades and a book light for fill right behind camera (or opposite the key) and snooted dedos for accent (and how do you use these accents?)? Never shot any but figure it might be worth shooting a couple on spec. (Or just wait for the right time of day and fake it, lol?) And food looks good in a clean kitchen with a slider move then spray it down and a very weak toplight/frontal fill and pretty hot very soft backlight then shallow focus? Or just macros of foods shot in similar ways?
Going after a mid-range audience, just trying to find paying work so I can rent out the kit. Thanks!
And how do you get camera moves like the food in this subway ad? Small jib? Or can you fake it on a slider and pan/tilt head? Thanks!
