Anything out there to cut down some r3d clips without reencoding?

Like avidemux or smartcutter?
Or perhaps a cs6 setting to do so?

yes but then when you exsport you re-encode...even if you exported in r3d (copy of a copy/ generation loss)

i need somethin to split and rejoin r3d video files without reencoding.. (fast and same video file not recompressed)

Cut in fcp or whatever. Generate xml. Open xml in RCX and export timeline (separate clips) as r3d trim.

Thanks so much!! Ill try it this afternoon :)

No, they cannot merge - this would require recompressing at the cut, since R3D depends on motion following to do its compression magic. they will give you trimmed files accompanied by an XML that points to them correctly - why would you need a merged file?

Is the OP asking if it's possible to merge multiple R3D files together so that you have an basic edit consisting of a single R3D file? I don't think that is possible to do. In RCX and Resolve you can trim R3D files down to smaller R3D files, but there is no software out there to Spit out an R3D file of combined clips, much like a finishing format. R3D is not a finishing codec, it is a shooting codec.

R3d ( J2K ) is an intraframe codec. It does not depend on motion from frame to frame.
