Hi all,

Im a Video Assist/DIT tech and Im using the Panasonic BT-1700 for on set monitoring. I'm wondering if it's possible to create custom markers on the Panasonic (scotch tape free  ) ?

The problem is that if you shoot for 4:3 final output, default 4:3 markers on panasonic arent right because of the safe frame generated by red.

It wouldnt be a problem if we could even get the markers out of SDI when the EVF and an onboard monitor are plugued.

Thanks!

Melissa

I shoot yesterday with Build 16 and I had to unpluged one of them to get the frame lines from sdi

Hi Melissa,
Panasonic Bt1700 is a HD monitoring device it is not a video asist actually, so that make sense if it doesn't have custom marking feature. I'm working on a new video assist device (LYNX) and our software team has added custom marking feature. And also I can count a couple of devices like http://www.y-vamp.com/mattegen.html etc. which has custom marking.

You could go with a frameline generator, or unplug either the EVF/LCD to get frame lines, use thin tape to tape the monitor, then plug back in the EVF or LCD. Not ideal, but it works.
