  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Custom built PCs are rising.. after CS5

is it that easy? we will see..
did you try it?

EDIT: tried it on my 9600GT.. it got 64 cuda cores only.. it works for some extent.. but there is a lot of issues about..
it give you some seconds of real time performance with effects added on, then the screen flashes and it becomes slower than software only mode..
I think the card ain't sufficent enough for the job.. but it gives you an idea of what you'll have when get a better card.. the app becomes snappy as seen on TV.. especially when you add effects..

UPDATE: it works now with no problems.. it was a problem in the settings of the drivers.. just poor performance.. but there is an add to the software anyway,,

Uggggghhh Windows...I think I just got siiick.

The Solution:

Redcine-x can't preview R3Ds at 100% running on my imac, unless I boot it into 32bit XP and run it.. I prefer neither OS, they're both pretty sh*t compared to a stable Linux distro IMHO, .. but, I have most experience programming for windows, so I continue with it as its the biggest market for software..

I usually find OSX reports not enough memory, where in the same situation Windows just hardclicks forward as best it can, which I kind of admire, in a sad way.

If anything does make me sick, its usually Apple trying to sign me up to stuff, sell me crappy DRM controlled media players, or just seemingly "trying to be my cool friend who's just trying to keep me in touch with my other cool friends because my time is precious and Apple understands that, live your life etc etc" etc.., and not just apple, but *uck o*f anyway (not you Dan, Apple et al)..

Yeah, if you want your computer to sit there doing nothing and looking pretty. I've used Linux for 18 years and have programmed with it quite a bit. I use it every day. My HP48GX calculator is more stable than ANY computer but it doesn't mean it's that useful for editing video.

As a node to render, Linux machines are FANTASTIC. As a workstation I am going to sit at and work at, no thank you. I've not used ONE desktop manager on Linux that was worth crap. Why? Because there are 5 million implementations that have all their own issues. And ALL of them are horrible on resources. Both Windows and OSX kill Linux on that front. I still can't believe how much resources KDE takes up.

Need this new tool on Linux, wait, I have to compile it? Wait, I don't have library x that requires library y. Why won't configure pass? Oh, this library doesn't work with this version of gcc.

No thanks.

I pay someone else to deal with those headaches now.
