Does anyone make a curved slider? It'd be nice to have a modular slider with curved sections just like dolly track. Just wondering.

How about just using an axis dolly? Cut a piece of MDF into the size of the circle you want and away you go. Any circle size is possible. We have an Omni-Tracker and like it very much. GREAT shots. It works very, very well with our RED: http://www.omni-tracker.com/home.html

I believe most of those sliders use motion control sliders which are used in industry and you can buy from igus etc... As far as i know there are no curved track sliders with solid grasp. The second thing is it would be difficult to put a curved track on a tripod because of weight distribution. You would need a base for a point in the curve, so two tripods at minimum would be needed, unless you are thinking tabletop? There is no reason why this is not possible but i gather the motion control industry really need products which can be automated rather than pushed and so don't produce this kind of curved track. Very rarely do automation systems need to go in a curved direction, although in saying that some designs are available because curved track on conveyor kinds of situations where space saving is needed. These systems are usually hanging objects and use the objects gravity to maintain its balance where there is little or no yaw axis disruption . I think they are automated by belts. Search "motion control" and "curved" . maybe "track" in google and you will come across them soon enough. Another thing and probably the cheapest and easiest way to gain the same effect would be to just unlock your pan on the tripod so there is enough resistance and then use this with the slider in unison. Depending on the ratio between pan and slide you will get dozen of curved scenarios and although not a curved track will go into exactly the same positions as a curved track would do. That way you can still do it balanced on a tripod.
