  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Order what camera? Contact your Bomb Rep, not REDusers
 
I'm from Southern California and have never heard of that. The real name, California, has worked pretty well for me - never needed to make up a new one!

It's been a bit crazy and hard to keep up. Us mods do this in our own spare time... None of us are compensated for what we do here.

Arnold, you're not helping.

To answer the original question, it's best to contact RED when placing an order. If you order with the PL mount, you stand a much better chance of getting the camera earlier I think. ...Although, that doesn't help if you need the Canon mount.

Arnold - it would have been more accurate if you had at least put a question mark after the title of your thread. That may seem like a nit to you but, here on REDuser, don't be surprised if someone takes that as news rather than a question.

My guess is that no one here knows how many orders are in, how many cameras are built, what the rate of production is, etc. So, no one but RED can really even try to guess the wait time right now. As someone said, call RED and discuss it. I am not sure they are going to want to post some short answer here. :smiley:
 
Um....this is starting to get weird and your statement, Jeff, might be the weirdest. I started this thread to ask about the 3 month wait time on the Scarlet. Shall we work on that or make bizarre accusations? Let's stick to business, shall we?

Terry, thanks for keeping focussed. It wasn't a question. I have heard that it's a 3 month wait. It's 2nd hand and there appear to be a lot of folks here who know a lot about such things so I'm hoping someone can correct me. Also, I find when you post something as a question people are reluctant to reply (although REDUser is better than DVXUser in this regard).

Arnold, apparently RED hopes to be out of backorders by Feb 2012... so if you book your Scarlet now... maybe the latest you could expect to get your camera is by Feb 2012

From who or where did you see that?
Red has announced when they will start shipping. So based on when you order and how many people order you can figure sometime after those dates (depending on your mount option).

If your serious about getting a camera and need a better idea of when, contact Red directly, rather than adding to the see of misinformation and conjecture.

I was under the impression that Mr. Jannard was referring to all the accessories when he said that. I didn't think he meant the actual SCARLET brains.

Feb 2012 I guess was for backorders of parts and all...or more so like Brian said 'end of pain' month which probably means that anything plaguing their issues right now getting up to the speeds they want will be fixed by then, as per usual with RED there will be always backorders, hell i just checked and the R1 is on backorder...

I'm confused where this 3 months waiting period came out on Scarlet though?

February is 3 months from now. I think it's possible, I hope it's not the case though.
