Hey all,

I’ve reached out to a few of the usual suspects with a general inquiry email about rehousing my late 90s Leica R Summilux set, but I haven’t heard back from any of them.

I’m assuming they’re all pretty backed up, but does anybody have any leads? I’m not in any particular rush to get it done, considering the cost, but I’m definitely curious about the process and would love to get a quote from somebody.

hope this is the right discussion thread for this question! Thanks for your time

Hi there, I got a 6set done by GL optics about 4/5 years ago. They’ve been rock solid with a great build and I use them once a week minimum. I can’t remember the full cost (between 3.5 + 5k per lens 35,50 + 80 most expensive) but it took a few months to convert and so I did it in batches. I would have done it with TLS here in the uk but unfortunately a bad deal was done whereby another company paid for the tooling and wanted double the price to do the work.

Hi,

i was at the same point a few months ago and went with Whitepoint Optics in Finland. They are quite affordable (similar to GL) and had a 8-10 month waitlist back then. But i have to send the lenses in only for 2-3 month, they will let me know when they´re ready to start. I think it´s a very good option for EU based people.

Zerø didn´t even reply, i think they´re quite packed at the moment. It´s the only company offering a very compact design with 95mm fronts, others are 110mm. And in US

Cinescope (brand name of the Leica-R TLS rehousings) are quite expensive indeed but has lots of reputation & offers very good quality because of made by TLS

P+S in Germany is another option but they don´t do the whole set (no macros, no summicrons) as far as i understood from their website. I needed the macros so this wasn´t an option.

i hope that helps..
