  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

CS6 6.02 update is crazy buggy???

WOW, jut updated and unlocked cuda again.
Used to get RT playback at 1/4, now get RT with 1/2 without a glitch!
On a 4 core windows 7 laptop with a gtx 670m.
Glad to report it's working like a charm for me

Clayton, I would probably refrain from updating to 6.0.2 as that appears to be the source of some of your issues.
I'm working on getting more info / getting more testing done.

Also, can you provide some details of your system? Are you using a rMBP?

Wes

Hey Wes, I am on a macbook Retina, i have TB display, TB sonnet echo with rocket, TB raid Pegasus. I was living the adobe red workflow dream prior to the .2 update....i just thought since it was ment to support retina i would have some performance increase with CUDA. I resintalled to zero but still my red files dont show up in the bin...just grey boxes, my timeline is glitchy...audio glitches. Maybe i should do a fresh install...then go to .1.

Thunderbolt configurations with the rMBP seems to be the most common for those with the 6.0.2 problems.

If you revert to 6.0 make sure you update the Epic Labs patch files (2 of them) they need to be updated after a clean install and also updated if you run a patch (such as 6.0.1 or 6.0.2)
Please PM me your e-mail address for direct communication.

Wes

As a current user of 5.0 let me say, thank you beta testers :p lmfao

CS6 was a mind-blowing improvement for r3d's with their Mercury Playback Engine. Unfortunately there seem to be some hiccups with this past patch but I would strongly recommend that you upgrade from 5 to 6...

Question for Wes: So I need to update the Importer files even though they are of an older date? (My installation says the files, which are to be replaced, are from September 2012, and the ones I download to replace them, are from May 2012). This is ok?

Thomas, yes, please replace with the files from My 2012. That is correct.

LMK if you have more questions.

Wes

This update has just about crippled premeire for me... play back of footage is great, but when I run 2 displays it causes the 2nd display to go crazy and just be a glitched out screen. If I click on a clip, or right clip for view source settings it can take up to 30 sec to bring up the dialogue box. I am on the macbook pro retina. Any outlook on when a patch for all this might be out. How do I go about rolling back to the previous version?

Yes Adobe, I am sure your listening. There seems to be a big issue with Retina, thunderbolt, and redrocket support for premier pro 6. I am a ten year final cut guy who made the jump only weeks ago to Pr, I i could not speak highly enough about the workflow...cutting 5k footage native, unreal....i know there is a price to pay being on the cutting edge but I was told many times this set up worked, regarding redrocket. I spent the extra 4 grand (REDrocket sonnet TB combo) only so I could have real time playback and real time (or close to it) export...but at the moment this seems to be where the problems are. When I unhook my rocket, smooth sailing. Now my concern is should I sell my rocket! Cheers. Clay

Hi Ryan,

Make sure you update the Epic Labs Patch files after any update. Some of your issues may be related to that.
We're working on resolution and also working with partners where needed.

If you'd like to revert to CS6, that has fixed issues for a couple people that I have helped.
I would recommend a full un-install. Then Re-install CS6 and google the 6.0.1 Premiere Update.
Then install the Epic Labs Patch files (2 of them)

Feel free to get ahold of me if you have more questions.

Hi Clay,

Yup, we're listening and thanks for the continued support and feedback.
I believe I mentioned in an e-mail that we need some cooperation from some of our partners in order to resolve some of these issues completely. Especially where it concerns 3rd party products, 3rd party hardware, 3rd party software, OS level stuff, etc..

You can rest assured that we're working on it.

Thanks again for your help. I'll keep you updated as I hear more and feel free to do the same.

Best,
Wes

As I've read thru the thread, I get the impression that the update on Win7 works well, but there are issues on OS X, especially with the newer Retina devices - and when combined with a Rocket.

Would that about sum it up? Win7 = GOOD, OS X = Problems? At least with the current updates?

BTW - thanks for all the great support Adobe!! I'm sure the move to embrace non-Cuda cards and the complexity of 3rd party hardware and software interactions will take a while to perfect. As someone who develops software, I quite understand.

Yes. Thanks we for your help. I'm going to revert back to 6.0.1. But eagerly await a fix to get my retina graphics and cuda support again

Wes Howell,

Have PM'd you about a non-Red issue related to the 6.0.2 update.

Thanks Adobe for being on the ball on this! Seriously impressed with their response to the issues. I love this new Premiere.
