  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

CS4 installer to support build 20?

Anyone have any indication when Adobe will be supporting Red's build v20/21 or what is the delay?

anyone??

I don't know either, but Obin's post makes it look like Adobe is in the midst of a major upgrade...
Can't happen soon enough.

Maybe their working on the REDROCKET support at the same time! (totally speculation).

I'm hoping for Rocket support too! The last release of the CS4 plugin came before the Color Science build of the SDK and the RED Rocket SDK build has been out there for a few weeks now. I'd be surprised if they're not working on it. But incorporating support for the Rocket could take some time.

I'm also hoping that they fixe their Media Encoder. I swear it would be awesome if it didn't crash all the time. Always rendering out of AE is a solution, but it's not always the way I want to work, given that it doesn't support some of the features of Premiere.

Media Encoder is working fine for me.

Media Encoder

Media Encoder is working fine for me.

It no longer crashes for me either, but it does one thing I am not sure I understand:
Let's take what is common for me, (a 4K HD 1.5 hour clip). If I put it on a 4K 16 X 9 HD timeline and scale to size, it plays and I do whatever then encode. Media encoder cames back and says it will take 120 hours.
If I put the same source file on a 1080P timeline and encode, it does it in 12.
Since both are starting from the same 4K 16 X 9 HD .r3d file and both have to scale to size for the output, why the difference in time. Even if media encoder is recreating each frame as it appears on the timeline, since it will play on either timeline, why the 10X longer time? Strange.

Did you leave Media Encoder continue encoding? Maybe that "120 hour" will change later to something much less. It could just be a huge amount of calculations at the beginning of encoding, then things may turn normal. Just a guess..

Well, partly: I let it run for about 12 hours at which time it was now saying 108 hours to go. If I remember correctly, I did that twice. Then I created a new timeline and did it in 12 hours.

Hey Obin can you give us any info about when a new version of the RED plugin will be released?

Deanan/Red,

Any idea when the new Red Adobe CS4 installer will be out.....or what's happening with it?

D

You know what they say about the...

You know what they say about the...

SQUEAKY wheel!

Please someone, at least let us know that there's work in progress.
The lack of news is killing me.

Thanks!

Adobe has released that a 4.2 update is coming soon for Premiere Pro. Maybe an updated RED plugin will be released around the same time.
