Hello,

Has anyone an idea or workaround for the EDL export with CS4 premiere without correcting by hand?
Trying to import an EDL to speedgrade but PPro does the following in the EDL:

instead A007C006 > A007_C00, so the last concrete clipnumber is missing
instead A007_C003_8206T_001.R3D > A007_C003_8206T_002.R3D when a *.RDC contains 2 files

thank you
alex

Hi Alex,

Perhaps your clip names might be too many characters? You could try renaming them, but that might be too late or impractical.

I've had similar issues in the past with EDLs, so tend to front load file numbers, plus mac users sometimes can't easily read the whole string.

'video-file_001.mov' would become '001_video-file.mov'

Then, in the edl text file, you could still quickly search and replace the end of the file name, which stays the same for each clip.

How about exporting as a FCP xml file? Would this work in / import to speedgrade?

Sorry that's not much help.

Specification for CMX 3600 EDL is no more than 8 characters for source tape ID's. It is most likely truncating. Avid created a non standard EDL based on CMX 3600 that allows the full 16 characters as source since it is never intended to go back to a standard linear controller.
