I'm sure this has been discussed before, unable to locate that thread, sorry for the repeat. Downloaded the Epic importer from Adobe, Premiere Pro working fine, but After Effects won't import Epic clips.

Anyone else having this problem?

thanks

You need to re-read the install pdf. I had an error after I first installed it, but it was operator error. Walk thru it step by step and it should work. Seems to be the case with most that have initial problems importing EPIC files. I had not placed one of the files in the right folder and it caused the same result you're having.

I have got CS5.5 working OK with Epic files (when it doesn't crash).

But for some reason it is giving errors with Red One files which work perfectly in CS5

Thanks Lee, the devil is in the details.

Just looked at your MozoCam reels, very nice, what are you using for stabilization?

Thanks Tom. It's a combination of Kenyan Gyros, EasiRig, and a customized harness that removes vibration from riding the Segway on rough terrain. It took us about 6 months to finally get it right.
They actually look better on Vimeo for some reason.
These are my two favorites:

We have a really cool piece that we recently shot at Sing Sing Prison for NBC but the show hasn't aired yet. I'll post it when they give us the OK.

Did you update the "MediaCore" file as well?

Do you mean the 2 files in the Adobe Media Encoder directory?
If you do, then yes.

I updated the files in all 6 directories and then copied the 5K folder:

ImporterREDServer.exe into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS5.5\Support Files\32
ImporterRED.prm into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS5.5\Support Files\(Media Core plug-ins)\Common

ImporterREDServer.exe into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5\32
ImporterRED.prm into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5\Plug-ins\Common

ImporterREDServer.exe into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5\32
ImporterRED.prm into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5\Plug-ins\Common
5K (folder) into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5\Settings\SequencePresets\RED R3D\

It sounds like you installed it correctly. I thought I had, but one of the files didn't make it into the folder that it was supposed to be in and it caused an error. I walked thru it again, found the misplaced file, fixed it and all has been good since.

Thought I detected a Segway in that footage, amazing little machine. Seems the Segway CEO took a long drive off a short pier not too long ago, drowned himself in the process. Hope your brake pads have less wear than his did.

Your Kenyon rig is probably a pair of KS-6's, mounted in the roll and yaw axes?

We are dealing with similar issues testing our Cessna strut-mounted Epic rig, the aerials present some pretty big challenges re slip-stream buffet and engine/airframe vibe problems, some of it very vexing. Post stab is helping a lot, but I'm convinced, the better the raw product is, the better the finished one will be. We're not giving up any time soon, we'll bring this puppy home to Mama eventually.

If you need good-looking aerials, cost effective, PM me anytime.

Tom

I'm using KS-8's. We worked on this thing for months, some changes good, some bad, but we finally got it where we wanted. You have any links to your aerials?
