"Crimson the Barbarian. Crimson the Savage. Crimson the Killer of All Weaker Camera Manufacturers. Their blood shall paint the walls crimson!" --The RED Chronicles

Sorry, I'm a Robert E. Howard fan.

Scarlet's proposed features are great for certain applications. I will definitely own at least one, if not more. Thanks for giving us something to look forward to, RED.

I dream of something called the "Crimson". A low cost cinema camera with 35mm DoF. Something for those who can't afford the RED ONE but want 35mm DoF without having to use a 35mm adapter. This would truely obliterate the competition. Ahh, dreaming is fun... :w00t:

Thanks for everything, RED team.

Crimson's taken:

You'll have to find another synonym for the colour Red ("Ruby" :) ?)

I think the camera you're looking for is the Red One (it's already pretty cheap - just check out the competition's prices! $200,000 and upwards...)

And if you do a search on the forum, you'll notice I suggested that name a few months back. In fact, someone might've suggested it before me...hahaha I also suggested Cherry, Rouge, Carmine, Ruby. etc. Nothing's new under sun.

Yeah, the RED ONE will be mine soon. I just thought with Scarlet being so darn affordable (Still can't believe it. Way to go RED!), that it might be possible to do something with 35mm DoF at a "Scarlet" , or near Scarlet price point.

Dreaming and speculation is fun. Whatever the RED team comes up with, I'll be a customer.

Crimson is a great name choice for that camera that I'm waiting for too. I love the name Scarlet for the character in Gone with the Wind, a masterpiece. But if Red comes out with the camera like that, I hope it will be called "Rosebud."

There is room for a camera better than scarlet but cheaper than Red. The problem is everyone wants this camera for Scarlet's price. If there was essentially a scarlet camera that would take interchangeable lenses and was slightly larger, it'd be about $10k, which would then cause everyone to complain again.

We have already discussed this in a great detail and You will find a lot of valid points of view and comments if You take the time and read the thread...

Not everyone Shawn, just see the same thread linked above...

I don't think people want Scarlet prices for a 2K 35mm RAW camera like "Crimson." Sell the body for like $7K and I'm telling you, that camera will literally sell like hotcakes.
