  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Creative Cow Article: Panavision, FUD and...HDR?

Of course, even in the worst possible case, RED One resolves 2k in RGB 4:4:4 and best possible case (because of optical low pass filtering) 3.2k. Worst case still out-resolves any HD camera.

Thats what I was saying tuther day, but without decent downsampling systems, much of the benefit can be lost. And no, thats in no way your fault.

This is how I felt about the R1 from day one, before I made the purchase..

I know nothing about panavision, though my father pointed out the other day he knew the former head of Panavision, his surname began with F?

The article on "marketing pixels" is written with passion I believe, and contains interesting observations, though its full of typos and non-sensical gramma too..

Its is no doubt a bit of a dig at Red, but will it make a difference ?

Whilst many people are using "inadequate" post solutions, I doubt they'll care much about "geeky" stuff, and Red are standalone on price/performance, so everyone should remain relaxed and calm at all times.. anything else is a sign of weakness and will lead to death !

For me personally, 4k bayer is cool. 3.2k luma is cool (and sets the R1 apart from hdcam)

I'd be careful "image panning" in post though, those resamples can be much worse than the regular downsampling, and I usually don't go to 1:1 zoom, so I still have a measure of oversample..

Isn't it not for sale, because they haven't finished building it yet?

Isn't it still three years away from being ready for sale?
