Hi

I will be on my Epic as B Cam on a shoot where A Cam is Alexa. I been asked to supply ProRes Log C files that are as similar as possible to the Log C ProRes produced by the Alexa. Is there a setting in RC-X that can easily create Log C look for ProRes Export ? Or do I just export to ProRes in LogFilm preset ?

Many thanks for any help on this.

I know LookLabs has a LUT patch for the RED that emulates a Log C look, before you apply their speedlooks. Their workflow attempts to get all the cameras to the Log C base before applying any color corrections, far as I can tell, it looks amazing.

Thanks so much for this info Andrew - fascinating product from Looklabs - I will be buying some of those LUT packages for Resolve 9 !

I wouldn't do that.
Just because LookLabs say so, doesn't mean they are actually doing that. Yes, the closest thing you can do easily to get Red Prores to look like Alexa Prores is to use RLF gamma settings for R3D debayer. It's not quite Log-C, but it will be correct and you don't need to rely on some voodoo LUTs.

+1, Fewer transforms = better, esp if it's baked in transforms, and really anyone who calls themselves a colorist can match RFL to LogC, to Clog, ot Slog to Film Scans on and on

The simple version of my recipie for matching LogC is; RG3/RFL + adjust exposure to make the data range fit what the choice of LogC LUT's expects to see incomeing+ OLPF up + DeSat.

Should note i find it's more work to make Alexa match Epic than the other way around
