Hello,

I am using Redcine-X professional (build 50.1) on my Windows 10 machine.
I would like to export .R3D files to a variety of formats. And yes, I realize the quality loss! This is just exploring how to optimally include short videos (at most a minute) in PowerPoint.
When exporting to AVI file format, Redcin-X crashes.
When exporting to Quicktime file format, it yielded a MOV with only black frames.

I am looking for advise how to solve this.
Thanks in advance,

Marcel

Hi Marcel,

Sorry you are seeing these issues. Both AVI and MOV are container formats, so what's important is which codec you selected for both (that determines what actually gets stored inside these containers). Do note that QuickTime is deprecated on Windows and you would need to install QuickTime from Apple for it to work at all.

When you say you get black frames, is this inside Powerpoint or when you just try to play the file? If the former, then try playing the file in a player such as VLC.

I assume Powerpoint only supports a limited number of codecs and you probably want to keep the export resolution low (which you have also not mentioned).

If you have other software such as Premiere Pro then you can also load the R3D's in that as you will have more export formats to choose from.

Hope this helps,

Rob
