  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Cowboys and Aliens

I want to take my 11 year old son, but I heard there was a nude scene?
Maybe I can have him go get popcorn during that scene. LOL

There is no bare breast, or frontal nudity - but there is a tiny bit of buttcrack. I wouldn't say it was distasteful, as it was plot motivated.

There are some cursewords if that sort of thing bugs you. The aliens are GROSS. hahaha

Pretty violent overall - human on human and alien/human violence abound.

Would you let him see Terminator 2? If so - I'd say he can watch this.

Yay violence ... a bare breast ... oooooh. American censorship is almost the reverse of europe

Just so we're clear...

I'm neither condoning nor criticizing the violence or nudity in the film. Just noting.

It is very violent.

I liked the film a lot. It was good, dumb fun.

Started great until Harrison Ford's brutal character went all mushy. How Olivia Wilde (who is otherwise fine) managed to keep a straight face delivering her lines after the big 'twist' is once of cinema's great miracles.

I thought Cowboys and Aliens was just really ok.

It feels like it was targeted for a summer blockbuster, but it should have been set out as a good B Movie. I probably would have enjoyed it more.

Who would like to save ten dollars?

First: read the title. That will get you 90% of the way there. Then watch the trailer. Bingo! you're done.

Not that it was poorly done. It was well done, but sometimes something that is so high concept has nowhere to go.

Not sure I would call this "high concept". And even if it truly is, they had plenty of directions to go with it... Whole thing just felt like another alien invasion cookie-cutter thing. Not one original idea in the movie, none, zip, nada. Of course, as Billy said, "read the title". Yep, that's what it was. Cowboys and Aliens. There you have it... Anyway it was exactly what I expected it to be. Cowboys and Aliens. Nothing more, nothing less. Grab yer popcorn, check yer brain at the door. We're gonna have us a good time, yeeehaaw! I still think it could have been a lot better if they spent an additional 20 minutes on the script or allowed the director and cast to improv the whole thing. There was no way they were going to make this into anything truly spectacular. Should have cranked up the cheese factor and had more fun with it. Should've made it "Cowgirls and Aliens" and given us more female eye-candy. Hey, sequel time?

As it was, it only gets a semi-enthusiastic "meh" from me. However, it still looks like masterpiece theatre compared to SuckerPunch, Battle:LA and Transformers3. OK, I admit, I haven't seen TF3... And will probably refuse to ever see it. I still feel like I owe Michael Bay a kick in the balls after watching TF2.

I remember when a Summer Blockbuster was a thing people didn't cry about. Those were the days... ;)

Kidding aside I thoroughly enjoyed it. Didn't expect much, I suppose, but it's called Cowboys and Aliens after all, not Epic Shakespearean Tale featuring Extraterrestrials in the Wild West. Harrison Ford was a badass. Daniel Craig was in shape and jumping on things. Olivia Wilde was pretty. Aliens were not. It was just a fun flick.

At only 36M this weekend it's far below what was projected for it's 1st weekend...and I'm guessing it will do the typical fall off to 50% or so. Not a great domestic B.O.

And given all the firepower in the cast as well as all the key creatives I wonder if this thing will make much money.
