  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Could those good with computers comment on this? Intel NUC Skull Canyon NUC6i7KYK

Skull Canyon is a piece of shit and it's not designed or intended to do what you want it to do. The fail rate on that model is very high and the older tech isn't as potent as it was intended to be, when it was released. The idea behind that model was that you'd get an eGPU - wasn't really a thing back then like it is now - to attach to it (for gaming purposes) along with high-speed media storage via Thunderbolt or USB, but that obviously didn't materialize until long after the product came out. Next year should see a new version of the design with updated hardware, including Intel's latest TB controller that supports DP 1.4, SDXC 3.0, USB 3.2, and the GPU-side will have HDMI 2.0. For the money, I don't think it will be a suitable alternative to a solid mini-ITX build, especially since all the updates to the hardware will also be on the actual desktop boards themselves.
