Could not mount media in the side SSD: New card has happened twice

My wonderful wife bought me a 960GB Mini-Mag last month. I loaded it in the camera and was off and running. The next time I powered on the camera I got this message:

Could not mount the media in the Side SSD; to try again, please remove the media from the camera and re-insert it.

But, after doing so, the card was not recognized. I tried about 10 times with no success. After the shoot I put it in the USB C card reader. After inserting it somewhere between 5 and 10 times the computer saw the disk and I offloaded my footage. I put it back in camera and it seemed to work fine. I then used the card 3 or 4 more times only to have the same thing occur. I shot, powered down the camera, then started it again an hour later and the media wouldn't mount. Powering the camera off and on didn't help. My other cards worked fine. Again, multiple insertions in the card reader and it mounted and now it mounts on the camera.

I have no confidence in the card. I am terrified that it is going to leave me high and dry. Has anybody experienced this? Any help you can offer? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had the random dismount SSD bug - if you run the new beta firmaware it almost goes away. I say almost because today it cropped up again even though I`m on the latest beta firmware. So the problem happens less but is still happening.

Like you I have had the USB C reader not recognize the mag a few times but a reboot of my workstation usually solves it.

I actually have had this happen yesterday and today with the latest release build, 7.0.1, and 2 different cards.
Emailing Red support now.

Maybe if its possible to get the mag to mount on a different camera do a deep format using the Utility format section of the menu when formatting.

They behaved yesterday. Red Tech support suggested a deep format. Will do on my down day Friday.

Seems like "secure format" has worked. I did that to each card and did some light testing, recording, ejecting, and inserting cards. No more messages.
I'll repost if it rears its head again.

I'm on 7.0.1 and I'm getting this for all my minimags. I wish I could try a firmware update but don't you have to be able to have the camera access the mag to do that?

Worth a try. The camera not reading the mag when it's booted could be a software-level problem that wouldn't happen when installing the firmware, as that happens before the camera boots into an operating system.

Be sure to secure format all your mags once you've got the new firmware installed.

Well... so far so good. Since upgrading to the newer firmware, I've been able to format, mount, dismount, mount, dismount both cards. So far so good. I hate how these issues just pop up out of nowhere.
