  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Costco's Latest UHD addition.

The demo mode of the Vizio 4K TV’s (mentioned earlier in this thread, thanks Kalulu!) is really close to what we want to use for displaying a video reel at a trade show. We’re able to play, and loop, multiple h.265 3840x2160 video files with no problem using this text file.

In the “store demo” mode, the TV default to using a picture setting of “Vivid” and sharpness set too high etc. We are able to change that, however, after about 10 minutes, the TV seems to automatically jump back to the default picture mode, i.e. “Vivid”. Has anyone found a way around this?

As an alternative, we’ve tried setting up a DLNA server and streaming video to the Vizio TV. This works for a single video, but it doesn’t seem like there is an option to use a playlist or to loop video. I’ve tried using an m3u file as a test playlist but it doesn’t seem to find it. Likewise, the TV seems to ignore playlists on the USB stick as well. Has anyone been able to get a playlist to work?

Don't have a direct answer for you but why not edit together a strung out playlist so it exports as a single video? You wouldn't have to worry about a 'playlist' at that point. You'd just put your default transition time between clips and export the file as one video. Basically the same thing you are doing by trying to run a playlist.

One day SALE for Vizio 60 4K. Starts today @Costco ends today.

Sucks Kalulu, dont see that in my parts in Canada.

So, the main complaint I am hearing from CNET is the imbedded sharpness. From those of you who have seen the TV is this a big issue for you?

They just fixed the Sharpness problem.

A better upgrade is the one noted by our friend Robert Heron: When the new firmware rolls out, it will fix a bug that overly sharpened the picture on still photos, Blu-ray movies and even 4K video, while also improving the LED backlighting and motion processing. Owners can look out for the v1.1.13 update in the "coming days," which should go over better than another sweater or pair of socks.

Revisiting this topic.

Anyone have any tips on an display that works with a REDRAY?

We were looking at the Samsung 7000 series at Costco.

Any other options at Costco or wherever?

Im in Canada.

Vizio's latest P series and newer M(2015) series spot an interesting 5th HDMI port.

Directly from the 70 M UHD set manual on their site. Its not exactly confirmed, they danced around the question.

Your M-Series TV supports the latest HDMI standards. This allows
next-gen cable and satellite receivers, Blu-Ray players, game
consoles, and more to deliver Ultra HD content.
In addition, the TV supports HDCP 2.2 technology which allows you
to play protected content from Ultra HD players and next-gen video
game consoles. The M-Series is built to be future proof where it will
allow users to view Ultra HD content as it becomes readily available.
See Connecting A Device on page 14 for more information about
connected HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 enabled devices.

Remember:
HDMI ports 1,2, and 5 support HDCP 2.2 technology.
HDMI ports 1 through 4 support Ultra HD inputs at
up to 30Hz, while HDMI port 5 can support Ultra HD
inputs of up to 60Hz. For best performance with HDMI
port 5, only connect high-performance devices that are
capable of outputting 1080p or higher resolution.
