Hi All,

I recently shot a long interview on a Komodo. It amounts to about 500 gb in file size (about 40 minutes).

However when I sat down to review the footage I found that it was corrupted.

The data is there but I can’t play the file. I have tried ‘repair it’ software which showed me a thumbnail of the footage. But I’m a bit stuck, anyone got any ideas?

No it appears as a mov file (one that doesn’t work)

Looks like your project recording settings where set in Proress instead of RED RAW .r3D
It might happen that recorded file was not closed (finished) before you took out the CF card out of camera. 500GB its a large file. You should eject card from the camera menu first or at least wait for a while before taking out the card from the card slot - or fully power down the camera...

If file was not closed then im not sure if anything can be done to recover it.

Another thing is that file got partialy closed but something happened on card ejection.
In this case you could try to put back card in to the camera (sometimes it offers media recovery but probably only with .r3D) and see if you can open the video in playback on camera itself. If it opens there then try to eject it through Camera menu. Might be that will help you.
