I'm working on a music video shoot that seems to have one corrupt clip (it will not open in REDCine-X, RocketCine, REDCine, or REDAlert - although the proxy files play back just fine).

I've uploaded the RDC folder to my FTP server in case anybody can help me diagnose and solve the problem.

The URL is: http://www.DIGILOID.com/xfers/A013_C004_0314GW.RDC.zip

Thanks in advance!

Have to go, sorry (still downloading...)

Ok so it looks as though you have a bad frame as the very first frame. And i see what you mean about it not working in any red software ( I tried everything) but the quicktime does play. very strange. Have you recorded over the card it was shot on? Have you tried RedUndead to see if it could recover whatever peice of vital info is missing?

Final Cut Pro doesn't throw back the error message, but it will not log and transfer either as it just sits there looking for the file.

OK so the test I am running for you now seems to be working, though it will be about 20 minutes before i know for sure. Basically i pulled in the full proxy file and am trying to export it again to see if it will output something usable

And it worked! Ok so pull the full res proxy into Final Cut Studio export quicktime choose a custom setting to get the full resolution out of it and Prores 4444 for the most use in grading and you at least have a workable file.

Unfortunately, the card was written over before we could try RED Undead. :-(

Will try this now... Thank you very much!

No Problem. :) I was having a bit of a boring day, and this helped to pass some of it.

Your solution is working (albeit slowly, without the benefit of the REDRocket card)! Thanks again. :-)

Does anybody know what could have been done to prevent this from occurring?

Jordan,

Did you try moving in about three frames into the clip an marking an in point and then marking an out point about three frames before the end of the clip?

You can't get that far because the clip won't even open in any RED software. Only the proxies will open in Final Cut Pro.

You can give a try to Redundead even if you have already formatted the card...
