Hey all-

So, due to some bad data management in a run-and-gun situation (learned my lesson for the 5th time...), my hard drive has corrupted an essential r3d file, and the original is long gone on the CF card.

The clip plays back fine as a qt proxy, but then gets to the corrupt part and goes green. When you step through, you can sometimes see garbled frames or half-frames.

The clip crashes redalert and redcine when it's put through, and the file that comes out of redline is not recognized as a movie file.

ANY... ANY help would be MUCH appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks...

is there any hope for the "corrupt" footage? I feel that just a few bytes are out of order, that if replaced, would make things right...

It's not likely you can salvage the frames that don't work in RedAlert. Talk to Red, but I'm willing to bet.

What you can do is identify the bad frames and work around them, RedAlert and Redline in general will only crash when they are told to access these frames.

You can set up RedAlert to transcode the parts before and after the trouble areas for example.

Had the same thing when a back up drive fell and physically damaged the drive. I was color correcting in Scratch, and and every time Scratch crashed on it. After close consulting with Scratch's developer (who is dutch) he build a version of Scratch which will not crash Scratch anymore( That version was written 3 weeks ago) . We were able to salvage all data except for some broken frames, which were partly repaired, but in all the shot was saved. If I were you I 'd ask Luki whether this version is out now , and maybe through a Scratch facility you would be able to rescue this one partly. Good luck.....
