  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Core SWX NEO-150 Batteries and More!

I’m interested in the 4 pack with charger but asking a dumb question -can I get V-Mount?

Jeremy- I'll put you down on the official list.. I think Zack has you handled for ordering, but if you still need help, let me know!

What's the lifetime on a battery like this?

The battery comes with a 2 year warranty and is rated for 2000 cycles. The life span will depend on usage frequency and level of care but I have seen batteries last anywhere between 3-5 years (sometimes more).

RE: Level of care... I've always wondered what the best practice is re: batteries if you are using them infrequently and they get stored for weeks or sometimes months as has recently been the case. Any light you can shed on this, Zack? Tips on how to take care of them?

Hey Nikhil,

Lithium batteries have a relatively low self discharge rate so keeping them on a charger for long term storage is not necessary. Here are some good practices:

Long term Storage (3 months or more) - leave batteries off the charger at about a 30% charge level and recharge the batteries every few months to maintain the 30% charge. the 30% charge level reduces the level of cell degradation. if left in storage at 100%, you risk a higher level of cell degradation. If left in storage at near 0%, you risk over discharging the batteries, which leads to accelerated cell degradation.

Short Term Storage (a few weeks / less than 3 months) - you can use the same formula as above but storing at 100% won't do too much harm for short term storage.

Leaving on the charger vs off the charger - Once the battery is fully charged, it is not necessary to leave the battery on the charger. Leaving batteries on the charger during storage is not recommended, especially for long term storage.

If the battery has a 'hibernation mode' it is best to store in that mode for both short term and long term storage.

I hope this info helps. Let me know if you have questions.
