  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Cooke Super Speeds!!!

Dont know if Master primes are "gods" when it comes to digital shooting... People here, as I mentioned, truly like the "soft" look of Cooke combined with the "sharper" look of digital.... One thing is certain when shooting RED, when its out of focus it really out of focus... very noticeable.

Hi, some oconfusion there, with the way i worded it, i should have put proper punctuation in, i was meaning cookes are the dream lenses for digital acquisition. Yes there is no room for debate with the focus on red footage, when it's soft it's soft..lol..

I checked Duclos database of lens diameters... if it is correct, already at 21mm a cooke s4 will be to small for 5k. UP at 16mm. assuming you need a lens diameter of 32mm or more.

So Cooke or 5k? (my accountant says 5k:) ) - other than the diameter issue - these look like the glass to invest in if you want to be serious with rentals...

Sidney, the ACTIVE PIXEL ARRAY of the S35 Camera Sensor has a 31.26 mm Image Diameter with an Aspect Ratio of 1.896:1 and its 13.8 megapixels.

Same seven blade design.
Wait, Cookes are eight bladed irises right? That's where the distinctive star bokeh comes from....

Cheers,

Paul

Yes/No. Cooke S4s do have an eight bladed iris. Although, the distinct star bokeh comes from the shape that the blades form at certain apertures. The number of blades is irrelevant.
