Cooke Super Speeds!!!

[Harry Clark]

Not sure about pricing, or image circle (coverage)
See the list at ZGC:
http://www.zgc.com/webstore.nsf/products/cooke_zgc5i
there is a link to a pdf spec sheet at the bottom of the page.
18, 25, 32, 40, 50, 65, 75, 100, 135
I'm trying to find out about a demo after they return from IBC. It would really be appealing if they combined the speed of a Master Prime (almost) with that amazing Cooke look.
Cheers,
Harry

dammit with that 30mm image circle.... I cant buy cooke´s if they dont cover 5k. And I really want a set of Cooke. as do most I guess...

[Gary McClurg]

plus they're going to be a bit more than the 4's... so I think the Red set is like 100k... so add a bit to that....

[Sidney L. Plaut]

yeah cookes are expensive - but its what most DP´s i know want to shoot with... the soft lens sharp "sensor" theory - which i cant dismiss entirely myself.

Exactly....

Would Leica lenses work for you ?

These Cooke speeds are intriguing...5K isn't as interesting to me as 4K at 120fps, and the Cooke look is delicious. I just hope they've improved the CA performance.

[Cüneyt Kaya]

wow, i guess 1,5 half lens of these will cost as much as a whole red set.

but i am sure i will rent them, i just like the placebo feeling of certain look they giving to me

[Sidney L. Plaut]

youre selling a set of leica´s pl? -

cooke is great for rental in this part of the world. but my guess is so is 5k....

Harry,
Thanks for the link.
Very exciting times with all the leaps in technology and all the "tools" being offered.
Best Regards,
Woody

Can't wait to see these in action! That extra stop will come in very handy (hope it holds up wide open as good as S4s do...will be interesting to see).

[Jeff Kilgroe]

I know what I'm buying if I win the lottery... Then again, that 30mm image circle is somewhat of a downer. Maybe I'll just keep coveting those Master Primes instead and I'm already comfortable with how they "look".

Here's a picture

[Matt Uhry]

Whats the Iris like on these ? Did Cooke go with something rounder with more blades on them ?

[Mitch Gross]

Same seven blade design.

[Blair S. Paulsen]

Same seven blade design.

Too bad, hoping they would go to eleven ;-]

[Matthew Duclos]

Just something to think about...
Number of blades in an aperture is irrelevant. It's the shape that is important.
Zeiss used to use a 9 bladed aperture that produced a triangle shape.
Don't be so quick to judge.

[Blair S. Paulsen]

I'm sure you're right Matt, I just had to sneak in a Spinal Tap reference.

Now where's that rolled up sock...
