Hello!

Is there a way to convert a QuickTime outro to .R3d?
What software do I need to use?

I'm using Redcine-x Pro and I need to edit the outro on the clips!

Thanks for the help!

You can't convert debayered material/qts to raw .R3Ds.

As others have said, R3Ds are (as of now) only a RED raw acquisition format.

Thanks everyone!

My workflow is crazy! I trim the .R3d files with Redcine-X, then I color correct the files and insert an outro to the .R3d in After effects. Finally, I send the .R3d to Media encoder to create an .MP4. Compressing the .R3d to .Mp4 takes about 2 hours for 15 second video.

I guess I will have to keep do in it this way!

There are many, many feature films that use combinations of different files in the workflow, going to DPX or ProRes for VFX shots and then using raw files for everything else. It's not a big deal.

I think it's a very, very bad idea to use MP4 files for editing, VFX, or final color because of the compression problems. Any decent 444 10-bit or 12-bit format will give you much better quality, and there's a lot of options out there in DNxHD (or DNxHR) as well as ProRes and so on. MP4's are OK for final delivery if they're going to the web.
