Hey Alex,
another thing that may be helpful is this 3 part tutorial from RED explaining exposure with raw:

I have found it helps to use the in-camera tools for exposure like it says, instead of relying on the display. Using these tips and ND's, it should be much easier to prevent clipping and get the images you want out of the awesome raw files you get.
