Contax Zeiss Survival Guide

What is name of the camera service company in Copenhagen?

I will buy Contax lenses but I need to know where I can send the lenses for de-click.

I’m from Stockholm in Sweden but I couldnt find any camera service company in Sweden that can fix it.

How much did you pay for the de-click?

I had a local camera service company here in Copenhagen mount Leitax mounts, declick and dampen the iris. Easy job. Got gears from helicoptersean and bought step up rings online. Good. Cheap. Quick. Hey, sometimes you can have all three ;-)

He used Goecker. It's not something they usually do. Finding a fellow European Reduser might be both cheaper and better

Thanks Birk,

If any european reduser who can de-click contax lenses reads this post, he is welcome to PM me. :)

Otherwise I maybe try to do it myself. See this youtube clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CrZaXjqCCk&t=6s

How many redusers have tried to de-click yourself with good resultats? I read some posts that it is harder to de-click 35mm 1.4 AE. Is it true? Is it just this lens or more other lenses?

I just noticed that Nick's 'Contax Zeiss Survival Guide' has gone over 1 million views !

This interest reflects how much all of us have benefited from this fantastic resource.
I for one, a PL man, would never have even looked at these lenses without this guide.

So, 'Happy Birthday' Nick and thank you for your efforts, generosity and this fabulous thread!

+1 Nick.. An incredible resource. I have gone back to those early pages many times checking out the different lenses.. Thank you for giving back.
Ted

Yeah, I've also noticed that 1 million tonight!

NICK, congratulations!

Here's a quick home test my client made of Distagon T* 2.8/28 and Planar T* 1.4/50 C/Y paired with BlackMagic URSA 4.6K (1600iso) and a black-n-white cat, — there's surprisingly no purple fringing but tons of nice creamy darks-to-whites transition and texture:

Hey guys thanks so much!!

I honestly can't believe we've eclipsed 1,000,000 views.

It's sort of unreal.

Thanks so much to all of you for turning a simple thread into a vibrant community.

Watching this thread grow, and expand, with new voices joining every week, is a continuously meaningful experience.

Mazel Tov guys!!!

Shot with a Contax/Zeiss MM set (not sure if there were J or G).
28 f/2.8, 35 f/1.4, 50 f/1.4, 85 f/1.4, 100 f/2.0

Very happy I went with these. Will probably be my go to set for a while.

Looks great, Bill congrats. On some of the night shots, you can really see the old coats blooming a bit. It's nice, and analog. Looks really good.

Looks great Bill. (I thought it was funny at 0:10 there is a sign "no photography no filming without permission" and what looks like a security guard staring into the camera, lol. Cool location, where is it?)

Ha, yes, the security guard was giving us the side eye the whole time.
That's a cool little corridor at Weller Court in Little Tokyo, DTLA.
Lots of young people grab selfies there.

Hi guys,

finally I got my first contax zeiss lens. A wonderful 60 s-planar 2.8. I got it winning a bid in an ebay shop.
I was so happy to open the box and try it. Perfect. Lens clean, no scratches, but unfortunately I quickly become sad when I tried the focus ring. It jumps in some part, losing the grip and stopping to focus and extend the lens for a while.
Do you think it's something easy to fix or it's better I will send back the lens to the shop and have a refund?

So sad...

So I'm going to be using my Contax Zeiss set with an Alexa mini on a shoot in a week or so. Has anybody ever used this combo and had any issues? Just wondering about potential clearance issues like there were with the 5D and stuff.
