  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Are they Leitaxed? Do you have a 35mm?

Nope, they are not Leitaxed. I have been using them with several cameras using c/y -> xx adapters. I don't have 35mm. Of course the value of the set rises when all the lenses match serials and series, but I have no idea how much I should ask for these... :/

Chris you give your talent too little credit!!! These look awesome!!!

Thanks Nick! The camera obviously helps too. hehe

Chris, your footage looks really really nice and inspiring. If it wasn't pouring rain I would go out and shoot some :) Is your set AE or MM?

Thanks Arto. They are all MM except for the 85 which is AE.

Fantastic as always Chris!!

Thanks man.

Killin it as always Chris!

I was given care of a set of Super Speeds for a day or two! Might try to and shoot a quick and dirty lens test between my them and my Contax's.

Thanks dude. Us OC users have to get together again...it's been way too long!!

Finally ordered an 80-200. Want to travel light on my upcoming holiday so that will be the only lens I take over 50mm. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

You wont be sorry! I have two! FYI wide open it gets a little softer from about 150mm to 200mm (very usable....but not biting). Stop down to 5.6 and its very sharp across whole zoom range!

Have a great vacay. Where you going?

Nice one. I'm still about 2 weeks out from going, but I'm off to Vietnam starting in Ho Chi Minh city for a bit, then 3 days on an old wooden hotel boat thingy that will get me to Cambodia and then 2 weeks there with a bit of Angkor Wat thrown in.

I'm almost pleased the Atomos Shogun isn't out yet because the temptation to shoot the whole trip in 4k on the little Sony is overwhelming. Instead I'm forcing myself to take a couple of regular lenses, my Dog Schidt ff58 and hopefully the ff38 attachment will have been delivered by then so I can pretend to be shooting apocalypse now from the prow of the boat.

You ended up getting another Dog Schidt? Still need to use the one I bought off you! I did get it serviced by RP lens FYI (they added a focus gear).

PS - shot my first TV show last week. A 1hr doc special for History Channel...in an abandoned warehouse! All shot on Contax and tilt shifted Hasselblads! Ill post footage once client gives permission!

Have a great trip!!

Best.

Yep I bought another one, this time a clean untinted oval aperture version, and ordered the new upcoming wide angle attachment for it too for oval bokeh loveliness.

Well done on the doc. What was it about? Will it make its way over here?

Contax 80-200 arrived. Can't believe how compact it is compared to a Canon. Had to pop across the other side of town today so took it for a quick test

Ben these shots are staggering. Some of my faves you've posted. On your A7S?

You see what I mean right about the 80-200 right? It has gorgeous seperation and bokeh. Very small and light for a telephoto zoom. AND...can close focus at 200mm to about 3 1/2 feet, making it a 3:1 Macro at 200mm. Which...is...insane.

You can see why I have TWO now...getting the second modded at RP lens asap.

I've been using the 80-200 on almost every shoot. And there've been a couple of small 3-cam shoots where I would have loved having it on TWO cameras at once (hence the second one getting modded now).

The 28-85 and 80-200 are the two zooms I use the most.

I have the 35-135 too, but only comes out when we shoot outside.

The 100-300 is a beast, but we rarely need 300 and can't use 5.6 indoors, so it also only comes out outside....

Still trying to find right places to use the 35-70, which I adore...the 28-85 is just so convenient!

We pulled out the 25mm in a warehouse last week for History Channel. JAW dropping. So much character. Best shot of the day.

We used the 60 Macro on a Project Runway Allstars shoot couple of weeks earlier. That lens finds a way to get used on almost every job! Much more so than the 100...not sure why!

Another lens that sees little action is the 100 f2...not sure why...gotta get that in there!

Again - Ben....great, great shots!

Love em!!

best

Thanks Nick. Means a lot. This has instantly moved way up the list of top Contax bargains, now sitting just behind the 50 1.7. You steered me right yet again.

Yes they were from the A7s. Such a nice compact setup. Will definitely get the Atomos Shogun so I can use it as a 4k b cam.

In other news it looks like those pics I took of the boxer a few pages back are going to be used in national media which I like to think of as a small victory for manual glass and no flashes and a couple of old arri 650s. :)
