  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Contax Zeiss Survival Guide

So much details with this lens, you can also notice near the Buble Bee eye, the little parasite.
Those fuckers can decimate a bee colony if they manage to get into the beehouse.

Hey Tom, To add onto what Nick had mentioned...yes, not blackshading after a firmware upgrade would add to that difference as well. Hope you're doing well.

Thanks a lot, Vin...that pretty much confirms my thoughts. We are doing a second shoot for the same project this Friday, so I will make sure that both cameras are blackshaded beforehand. Then we can see what kind of difference that will make!! And I'm doing great otherwise...loving my Scarlet and saving my pennies for Dragon!
 
Quick moment of raw interview footage from a 28mm MM and an 85mm AEG. Grabbed randomly from my timeline, no post done yet. LOVING the looks on these lenses, even when you accidently leave the white balance at 5600 indoors.

 
I would like to take this moment to highly recommend the Contax 60mm Makro. Just got it in the mail yesterday and it is quickly becoming the most fun lens I own. Just fiddling around with this beautiful lens on a 5D is setting off lightbulbs in my mind of the content I can create with it. 1:1 magnification is beautiful.

Edit: I'm all in on Contax Zeiss. Contax 100 Makro ordered. Again I blame Nick for starting this thread.

Awesome Nick. Congrats. Can you please post some wide open samples from the 28/2. That lens has been on my mind for that 1 extra stop and the painterly effect you mentioned but have been hoping to see if it is one of those lenses you just can't pass up for it's unique factor.

Once camera arrives, be happy to. Also have a very new MM 28 2.8 (late "8" serial number). I can compare them.

Samir, most of this piece (which I'm not in love with) was shot on the 28 f2. Close to wide open, or at a 2.8. You can see the bokeh there:
