Hey guys, here's some recent work shot on Contax glass!

AMERICAN ORIGINALS - DUNKIN' DONUTS
A branded piece for History. The Dunkin shots were shot on a Contax 28-85 and 100-300.

The 100-300 is an AMAZING piece of glass. Amazing.

VIKINGS S4 - INSIDE THE EPISODES
Also for History, we shot the interviews with Michael Hirst, creator of Vikings. Shot on Contax primes - I beleive the 50mm and 100mm f2 (MM's). We used Black Pro Mist 1/8 or 1/4, to match exactly the diffusion they use on the show.

CHILD GENIUS S2 - SHORTFORM
Shot this for Lifetime, with Tungsten lighting. Shot on 50mm and 100mm as well. This clip is one of many.

This shoot is what made us realize that our Tungsten shooting could improve with 80C filters.

SHORE FLIP w/ Snooki
We shot this for FYI. Snooki was a blast to work with. Shot on a Standard Prime 24mm, and a Contax 85mm 1.4 (MM). Not sure which take plate they went with for this GFX spot:

EDUCATIONAL Hip Hop
We shot 10 music videos like this - super fun, great for kids. I believe we used both our short Contax zooms - the 35-70, and 28-85. The 16 fisheye was used at the top.

A+E AWARD TAPE
We interviewed the top 10 exects at A+E, including the CEO...for an award tape. All interviews shot on an 85mm and 135 2.8 (great lens!). Shot with Digital FX 1/4 or a 1/2 - a great, clean diffusion.

I do trailers since 2000 for TV. I wish the French were less conservative when selling a program to the audience.
It is very rare a channel ask for a shooting to mix it with the footage from the program.
Lucky you !
Nick, usually what's the turn around for one of your spot ?

Ps: I should play more with the 135 ;)

So based on the Abelcine calculator and if I've configured it correctly, a Contax 18mm on the 6K RED Dragon sensor delivers a 75.4 degree Field of View. Wide but not as wide as the 21mm's 81 degrees on a Full Frame camera. Consequently, to achieve the 'look' of the original 21mm (on a Full Frame SLR) you would need to fit a 15mm prime on the Dragon which would achieve a wide angle of 85.6 degrees - slightly wider than the 21mm. Now, that would be something to see...

Craig,
the land scape frames were all done @ 6K WS and 6K FF, wider than 6K HD wich is what the Abel Calculator propose.
So I guess it is a bit more than 75,4 degree

I actually didnt do the post on these (I used to), except the awards piece...that I did I oversee post on! But USUALLY footage makes air within 2-3 weeks.

Oh yeah, the 135 2.8 MM is amazing. Though we did just get the 135 f2 Anniversary...so well see how much better that is!

nick if you could only pick one:

100mm makro f2.8

100mm macro f2.8 (ever see this one, seems like its all internal movements)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/F-S-Mint-Co...035909?hash=item2110fe8305:g:EfQAAOSw--1WrLCq

100mm f2

135mm f2.8 (cant believe how cheap this one is!!!) and i see this is the one gloptics rehouses.

Unequivocaly, the 100mm f2. It's a gorgeous, gorgeous lens.

For macro we love the 60mm 2.8.

Yes - the 135mm 2.8 MM is AMAZING!!!! And so affordable!!!

PS - that macro lens you've found is a Contax-N - autofocus!!! Almost impossible to adapt/use on EOS though...so wouldn't bother!

thanks! i wonder why gloptics does rehouse that 100 f2, must be difficult. does it extend far when focusing?
that macro with internal movements seemed interesting to me as it doesnt extend out like other macros, seems like a different build though.

Not sure why they don't rehouse the 100 f2. Its amazing. Doesn't extend any more than the 85 or 135.

I'm convinced its the exact same optical block as the Standard Prime 100...but shhhh...you didn't hear that from me!!!

Slightly off topic.... Are there any current options for converting M42 lenses to EF mount?

I'm not interested in screw-on adapters which do not lock into place.

It would be great if Leitax offered something nice, or a permeant mount swap was available.

I have a couple of radioactive Pentax lenses as well as a Flektogon 20mm f2.8 I would love to use more often.

I don't think Leitax is doing a mount for the M42 glass so I went with this which I know doesn't fit your needs but seems pretty well built considering. I have these on my Pentax M42 glass including the infamous 50mm F1.4.

My solution is going to be to have RP lens permemanly mod...we have a lot of m42 glass as well!!
