Ill be getting the Contax 18mm lens, but it has an 86mm filter ring.
All my other lenses have the 80mm O.D. rings from Cordivision.

The 18mm has an 86mm, so would I be okay to get a step-down ring from 86-77mm and then attach the Cordivision 80mm O.D. ring?
The widest they sell is the 77. Unless if I get a custom made one which will be more expensive.

Either case, will it be a problem with vignetting?

I think it will vignette with the 86-77mm step-down in place, Michael. I haven't tried that combination, but I do have an 18mm Contax and I'm pretty sure you will see the ring. I chose to press fit an 80mm dia. piece of Delrin (basically one of our lens gears with no teeth cut in it) onto the front barrel of the lens. It does not have any filter threads cut in it, but it is nice and secure and mates perfectly with the 80mm ring on my BT matte box.

Hope that helps...

Hi Tom!

Where did you get the 80mm delrin done up? Just personally or sourced from somewhere/done by a specific lens tech?

Thanks heaps!
