well IMDB says

First feature film to be shot using the RED Epic 5k digital cinema camera. (Steven Soderbergh's Che: Part One was the first film shot on the original RED One camera.

so probably it was on EPIC ...

I remember seeing some behind the scenes shots and they were using MX's.

If I remember correctly, Jim said it was mostly shot on MX while overseas and then some Epic here in the States.

Love it

Nice!!!

It should be US box office in September...?!

And Apple trailer 1080p works like a charm on MBP 17" here in Austria.

Also it's a pity that he couldn't shoot with Epic to get better colorimetry (with better De-Bayer....)

Next time he needs much better glass something like a Zeiss MP or Leica-SC...(it was lot of coma @ wide open shot at the blocked highway in the night...)

This may be blasphemy but...

I'm sure he has good reason for blowing out highlights and grading it to look more like video in certain shots, I just can't figure out why.

Perhaps the answer is "Art". Maybe it makes more sense when the film is seen in its entirety. Or, maybe that's become his style. I don't know but I don't care for it all that much.

Interestingly enough, I guess I wouldn't mind it as much if he shot it on a Varicam.

I believe Jim said, at the time of when they first started shooting both film. Epic firmware wasn't really up to snuff yet. It wasn't till close to the end of the production that RED could qualify the cameras to going shooting.

I think we'll have to see it in context. I felt the same way on some shots, but based on the story this could be an intentional look he is going for. Make sense in a way when you consider that people are sick in the movie and he may want to provide a style that doesn't make people look all that healthy. I have no doubt that if Soderbergh wanted the shots to look pretty, he could do it. I'll hold judgement until seeing it. Seems like a movie that could really freak people out considering it's being released right as the flu season starts to get under way and I'm sure the talk of swine flu and bird flu will get into the news again.

Trailer looks great. Story looks fascinating. Performances look tops. Can't wait to see this one. Red MX and Epic are incredible tools. We are so lucky to live in exciting times.

Agreed. I'm definitely going to see it.
